Sensorial Experimentation with bijouterie on IV PBC

On the Fashion Actualization Cycle on the 4th Paraná Business Collecrion, Curitiba receives the entrepreneur and stylist Mary Arantes from the bijouterie trend mark Mary Design, from Belo Horizonte city. With her peculiar history, Mary minister two workshops and a conversation about special themes.

The workshop “Threads that Reveal” happens on February 23rd from 9 AM to 12AM. This name was chosen because on the vision of Mary, “the person born convict for a thread, as the fragility is by a thread”, says, and in this kidding, the designer ministers a workshop with the objective to exercise the creativity of people. The participators will have to create bijouterie using only a thread that can be color or different thickness. By that the person can create a necklace, a bracelet, earrings or a hat. “They are free to create by only a thread and will work with the minimum material as possible to exercise the mind”, explain Mary.

The second workshop from the stylist will occur on February 24th from 9 AM  to 12 AM, with the name Sensorial Experimentation that is very special on the opinion of the entrepreneur. It is a space dedicated to the sensibility and identification of the participators with the visuals deficient. “We are going to work with the feelings, the touch and the sense of smell, principally”, says her. The designer will present her collection “To Eat With Eyes” that contain peaces with special smell like the fragrant bark of the cinnamon tree, the cravo that is another fragrant, nutmeg and lavender. “This is realized to awake the feelings of people and show the other side of the life”, explain Mary. Visuals deficient will be invited to participate of the workshop to pass their experiences and sensibility to other participators, as the way that they feel the fashion. The workshop is direct to a public that look for creativity and sensibility to the raw material to make fashion. This people can participate of the workshop blindfold, according the stylist.

Besides the two workshops, Mary also ministers a conversation “From Nature We Spoon Hope” about emotion, poetry and design on work. “I’m guide by the emotion and poetry and less reason”, says her that also counts a little history about her. The designer also casts a book “The Precious Banal Things”, that she talks about her life, history and experiences. The conversation occurs also on February 24th 3:30 PM.

Mary was born on Vale do Jequitinhonha by a simple family from Rio do Prado. She has married and goes to Belo Horizonte on Minas Gerais state. There, she started to produce bijouterie on home, when dishes from the dinner table were mixed with bead and glass pearl, thread and gunlocks. She didn’t have any option besides rent a space specially to produce the bijouterie and has inaugurated the Mary Design in 1982, period that she was graduating on dentistry. With time, Mary abandoned the consulting room to dedicate fully on production of bijouterie. After that, her husband, doctor, also has leaved the profession to manager the business of the wife that didn’t stop to prosper.
