Day 5 – Silmar Alves finished the fashion show of IV PBC The stylist
Silmar Alves finished the fashion show of IV Paraná Business Collection with
the magic history about Vila Velha, known such as Stone City.
There is a legend that Itacueretaba, ancient name of the local, which means
“lost stone city”, it was chosen such as “land of men”, where primitives
habitants hided their precious treasures. The place was guarded by “apiabas”,
the best men of the tribes, who can not have relationships with women. These
soldiers were managed by Dhui, who has fallen in a trap prepared by rival
tribes, while he has fallen in love with Aracê. Because that, Tupã, protector
of Itacueretaba, decided to revenged from Dhui, and provoked an earthquake that
destroyed the entire city and transformed it in stone.
“The family of my mother is
from Castro, city next Vila
Velha. I have inspired in this history because I believe that it cases at the
moment that we are living, with environmental insecure. If we observe well, the
legend is a fantasy that rewrites the geologic aspects of a place, which
probably it was sea and today is land”, affirms Silmar. For transform the
history to catwalk, the stylist will work with forms, colors, and embroidery. Besides
that, for 2010 Winter collection, Silmar Alves makes partnerships with Fiateci
– Spping Mill and Cloth Company from Porto Alegre, which offered materials to
skirts, manteaux, pelerines, tailleurs and other looks.
The pieces that can be seed on catwalk of PBC were produced in small scale and
will be sale to clients that know the work of Silmar, as well in Holland and Italian. “I
produced in little quantities because my work is very singular and always
inspired on culture from Paraná”, affirms the stylist.
In parallel to the
creation work, Silmar teaches Modelling and Draping in SENAI. “I think my work
is important to multiply the importance of fashion as concept, once I am a
teacher, manager and small producer”.

About Silmar Alves
Interested
in fashion since younger, Silmar Alves, studied Architect, but he lived it to
go to São Paulo,
and stayed there for 12 years. He came back to Curitiba, in 1994, and opened the Vestiaria,
cut, knitting and style academy. He developed a tailoring line of Icarius de
Menezes and started to teach on fashion courses on SENAI PR, which he makes
part of it until today. He paraded his creations on events such as Fenit (São Paulo) and is responsible
by the Dove Body Silk project. He participated of all editions of Curitiba
Fashion Art and Paraná Business Collection.
