Day 5 – Students showed their talent on João Turin Award fashion show Talent,
creativity, and devotion on fashion. It is these elements that the 13 finalists
of 7th João Turin Award of Incentive for New Fashion Designers will ascend
on catwalk of 4th Paraná Business Collection to show all future of
fashion on our state. This is the first time that the event has 13 finalists
and not 12 such as the custom. According to idealizers and coordinators of the
award, Nereide Michel and Paulo Martins, because of quality of works presented.
The works was developed
about the theme “Paulo Leminski, the Man, His Words, and His Time” and
evaluated from three criterions: creativity, fidelity to the theme and unity
between creation and commercial concepts. This year, it was registered more
than 150 projects from 13 institutions: Tuiuti University of Paraná, Senai/PR,
Centro Europeu, Londrina University of State, Senac/Pr, Camões Integrate Faculty,
Unipar – Cascavel, Unipar – Cianorte, Unipar – Umuarama, TECPUC – PR, Ponta
Grossa University of State, Maringá University of State – Campus Cianorte, Technological
Federal University of Paraná – Apucarana.
The finalists were selected
by a judge commission formed by the stylists Jefferson Kulig, Simone Gubert,
Patrícia Bonat, Caroline Pigel and Louise Alves, by journalist Adélia Lopes, by
the photographer Vilma Slomp, by the designers Marcos Novak and Rodrigo Alarcón
and by the costumer designer Aldice Lopes.
Award
This
year, the organization of award will give to the winners a new trophy, inspired
on last technologies that present on fashion world, such as on valorizing of
culture from Paraná. The trophy was developed from edible Araucária seed, tree
symbol of Paraná, and of a mannequin, icon of fashion on world. Besides new
trophy, the winner wins a travel to Milan and Paris, integrating the Entrepreneur Mission, organized by
FIEP, and Business
International Center
– CIN. The institution of the winner student also receives a trophy. The students
that stay in second or third place, will receive a mini-trophy.

when will be announced the winners of the award are:

About João Turin Award
The João Turin Incentive
Award for New Fashion Designers has the objective of stimulate research on
cultural issues of the state of Paraná, and encourage and find new talets for
the fashion market. The competition was idealized and coordinated by the
journalist Nereide Michel and the producer Paulo Martins. Students of technical
courses, undergraduate or postgraduate Fashion and Design students enrolled in
institutions in Paraná can compete for the award.
To participate the candidates hand out a conceptual project and a commercial
one to a jury comission following the theme that was chosen by the award
coordinators. Twelve finalist projects are selected according to three main
criteria: creativity, fidelity to the theme and unity between the conceptual
and the commercial creations.
During Paraná Businnes Collection the selected students present their creations
in a thematic fashion show that happens on the last day of the event, when the
winner is announced.
The first place wins a trofee signed by the plastic artist
Valdir Francisco and also a travel to Milan
and Paris to
integrate the Entrepreneurs Mission organized by the Industry Federation of
Paraná (FIEP) through the International Center of Business (CIN). The second
and the third places receive commemorative tablets.
The inspiration for the João Turin Incentive Award For New Desiners comes from
one of the main names that integrates Paranism, a movement that sought to
create a regional identity to the cultural events produced in Paraná.
Moreover,
João Turin, one of the leading plastic artists of Paraná, designed costumes and
accessories inpired by the shape and texture of the pine tree and the pine
seed. This initiative qualifies him as a forerunner of fashion design in
Paraná.
Always having some aspect of the culture of Paraná as a theme, the João Turin
Award already had the following winners: Francesca Cunico Córdova, from the
Technical Course in Fashion Design and Industrial Confection of Senai/PR, who
worked under the theme “João Turin and the Paranist Movement”; Beatriz Blohm,
from theTechnical Course in Fashion Design and Industrial Confection of
Senai/PR, who presented a project based on the theme “The Paranaense Fashion
enters the rhythm of Fandango”; Cláudio de Pádua Rodrigues, from the Fashion
Design Course of University of Londrina, under the theme “The Fashions and the
Paranaense Fashion”; Eliziane da Silva Dalcomune, from the Fashion Course of
Senai/PR, under the theme “Muleteers on their way to Fashion”; Rodrigo Orizzi,
from the Fashion Design Course of Tuiuti University, under the theme “The
Fashion Is Our Flag”, and Gilmara Aparecida Liques Penteado, from the Fashion
Design and Production Course of the University of Ponta Grossa, under the
theme: “A Passport to Fashion / Iguaçu Falls”.
Since its fifth edition, the João Turin Incentive Award for New Fashion
Designers has happened as a parallel event of Paraná Businnes Collection.
